Monday morning Eli tries to ...exterminate zombie-Håkan.
7:34, Monday morning, Blackeberg
The burglar alarm at the ICA grocery store on Arvid Mörnes Way is set off.

An Infected was stand-in for Eli :D

7:36, Sunrise
The sun caught up with Eli in the courtyard.
… Instinctively he backed up into the shade of the entrance to the yard…

Ten steps away was his door. Twenty steps to Oskar’s. And thirty steps to Tommy’s.
I can’t do it.

Later this day, Oskar is attacked at the subway platform when he's on his way saving Eli from Lacke.

He lay on his back on the platform, his breath coming in puffs of smoke from his mouth.

When Oskar tried to run, his legs froze up. Refused.

They gave out in the walkway between the school and the gymnasium.
He wanted to lie down. Tip back into those bushes, for example.

(this one I'm not sure about, but it's the closest one of some size)
Image

His legs took him stumbling past the high rises, …

…the old Konsum store,
(and not this either..)
Image

…the coconut factory

and with his speed in combination with old habits he rushed into the courtyard.

Monday evening, Eli and Oskar part under the Eli's balcony.
Earlier, Oskar threw Eli's boxes from her balcony (right) over to his (left):

They curled up under the balcony. There was no time.
Eli turned his face to Oskar's, said:
'I . . .'
Closed his mouth. Then pressed a kiss on Oskar's lips.
For a few seconds Oskar saw through Eli's eyes. And what he saw was . . . himself. Only much better, more handsome, stronger than what he thought of himself. Seen with love.
For a few seconds.

Thursday evening we have Grand Finale in the small and cozy pool house:
Image

A banging on the glass door, harder this time.
… ‘Say that I can come in!’
Whatever happens. Micke nodded, said almost inaudibly, ‘You can come in’.
Image

A speck of light was visible in the dark middle window and a split second later it shattered.
Image

And now I'm through. Thank you for your atterntion :D

Thanks for an incredible visual ride through the locales of LTROI. This journey has really added a new dimension to the story, at least for me. :D

Yeah, me too. And your effort has been blessed by JAL himself, which means it will be permanently ensconced in the hallowed halls of LTROI-fandom! :D

P.S. - somehow I thought the poolhouse's windows were bigger. I guess that was from the film.

PPS - with regard to the photo of the spot under the balconies...I think you ought to add:

"Eli turned his face to Oskar's, said:
Closed his mouth. Then pressed a kiss on Oskar's lips.
For a few seconds Oskar saw through Eli's eyes. And what he saw was ... himself. Only much better, more handsome, stronger than what he thought of himself. Seen with love.

Just a thought! :)

Drakkar, I don't know how to thank you enough for this thread. It was magnificent! Formost in my mind was all the tireless research, TLC, and determination it must have taken you to figure out exactly where all these places were, photograph them all, and finally assemble them into a LTROI travelogue that even JAL couldn't help but praise for its accuracy.

Furthermore, I think the Wolfster should set up a separate Topic and lock this thread at the top of it. What about it Wolfie? ;)

Thanks, all!

Just like JAL's style being rather low-key, the poolhouse is a low-key location. Perfect match, actually. Yes, it IS very small. Blackeberg is rather small. Short distances, usually not more than a few hundred metres.

In general, I tried to keep the contexts as short as possible, focusing only on the locations, not the story.
But of course there are exceptions. Done.

After reading through now to the end, will Blackberg suffer the LTROI Phenomenon or the LDRKI Phenomenon.

The reason for this is Bali's Ubud, which I will be making my way there, suffers from the EPL Phenomenon. EPL is the acronym for Elizabeth Gilbert novel Eat, Love, Pray. I just found out that filming of the celluloid version just wrapped up last month and Julia Roberts spent quite some time there after.

Fans have swarmed Ubud in hopes of finding (usually succeeding), places and even individuals mentioned in the novel. Of course the effect was a overwhelming on this little area. I think it made it even more popular than the crazy Kuta area.

Will Blackberg be gripped by the same fever?

Nja, Blackeberg probably has endured the peak by now. The book is six years old, after all, and the film nearly two years :)
I was approached by a woman while I was on my own friday, she was asking if I was taking pictures of the site of the new buildings (starting some days later). She didn't like they were destroying the park (not far from the dumping place of Jocke's body). So, no they didn't seem troubled by LTROI fans!
I believe it going to be a post from our visit on the blog Blackeberg.org (member here), so eventually people will know about our visit.
