A little interview with Kåre Hedebrant from 2008

Post by RobinPyyk » Sun Jan 02, 2011 5:49 pm

This is an interview I found from the paper "MITT I VÄSTERORT" with Kåre Hedebrant. It's from 21 October 2008, A few days before LTROI had premiere.
http://arkiv.mitti.se:4711/2008/43/vast ... 21VBV1.pdf

If the link doesnt work and for those who can't speak swedish, I'll try to translate :)

KÅRE AMONG THE VAMPIRES
Kåre Hedebrant from Hässelby has one of the leads in the new
Vampirefilm Let the right one in.

When we meet him Its only a few weeks to go until the premiere. Director Tomas Alfredson has already received international awards for the movie and received attention, But Kåre hedebrant has been protected from the media and not done many interview.
- But, as Tomas say, Soon the dogs will be loose.

Maybe he will becoma a child celebrity now, in all cases better known than when he A few years ago played Emil in Uffe Larsson's summer production of "Emil i Lönneberga" If so, it does'nt bother him that much, maby it would mean better chances of getting new filmroles.
We're sitting on a Café few steps away from Kare's school, Adolf Fredriks Musik Klasser, where the film-people came a couple of years ago in search of who would play Oskar, the bullied and lonely boy in Blackeberg who becomes friends with a vampire girl.

- They usually come to our school for some reason. It was a long queue to the audition in the Assebly Hall.
Me and another guy from my class got to go on a second audition. And then one more test shooting and one more. In the end
it started to be quite scary cause i started to belive i might actually get the role
.

Kåre eventually got the part as Oskar. He thinks that one of the reasons can be that he looks similar to John Ajvide Lindqvist as a child.
Kåre Closes his eyes and thinks a little while before he explains the character he is playing.
- He's quite a mysterious person somehow. How should I say... Such a boy who is excluded. And he walks around and thinks alot about Revenge.

Oskar lives alone with his mother in Blackeberg. In school he is bullied and battered by three boys in the same class. In the eavning he collects articles about murderes and voilence. One night he meets a girl that just has moved in next door to him. It is the beginning of a fragile love story between two vunareble children who have no other to trust but eachother. The film is set during the winter of 1981. Oskar and Eli, who is played by Lina Leandersson, is spending most of there time together outside on the snowey junglegym. Since Stockholms winters are not as snowey as they use to be, some of the scenes were shot in a similar residential area in Luleå

- It was really cold in the playground. Especially for Lina because she only got to wear T-shirt and thin trousers. I got to wear a jacket but no mittens.
Its fun to act! The hardest part is the long waiting. Other than than its great fun. And you also earn some money that you can save. I could imagine having a regular job in the future. I didn't think of this as a job, though. But to act or sing at the opera is also jobs, even if it is very fun jobs
.

Nice find Robin!

The subject of how cold it was during filming, especially for Lina, was a big topic here. As Kare mentioned she wore only a T shirt and thin trousers. Also filming started around 3am in the morning each day. From what I understand the jungle gym scene where she first meets Oskar ("What are you doing?") was redone 15 times and that was just ONE scene,
And you also earn some money that you can save. I could imagine having a regular job in the future. I didn't think of this as a job, though.
I found this amusing because, awhile after the LTROI was released Kare said in another interview he wants to do a lot more films in his future. Its nice he's working on a film now because Kare is a good actor. But "Amors Baller" doesn't look too promising. It's a super low budget "Animal House" teen film and none of the cast (including director) have any experience. From what I read the actress who plays the love interest was found walking the street right outside the studio. Looks like Kare bears the weight of carrying the film.
"Can we die?" "Of course we can." Eli put his hand on his heart, felt the slow beats. Maybe it was because he was a child. Maybe that was why he hadn't put an end to it. The pangs of conscience were weaker than his will to live.
