I Love Jocke
That's pretty much it. I rewatched the movie again. Poor guy lol. I just love the look on his face on the way to the tunnel. I think it's abner_mohl's avatar....

Well, the way I imagine it, Eli and Oskar are happy forever being vampires, working seasonally at a blood-bank with poor book-keeping skills.

I liked Jocke, too. Especially the novel--the poor guy is finally resolved to take a vacation, then he's thinking what a hero he'll be, carrying Eli to the Chinese restaurant, and then...he's lunch!

Re: I Love Jocke
I wouldn't ponder too much on Eli's victims or we might start to view him in an unfavorable light. And that would never do.
As Son of Sam (David Berkowitz) said, "I didn’t want to hurt them, I only wanted to kill them."
JAL didn't just want to diss Blackeberg, he wanted to kill any hope of anyone ever leaving there. Kill anyone who ever had a wish to do so.
He would only let Oskar and Eli do that. So Jocke, Virginia and Lacke, who had bigger dreams, were snuffed out. Lacke was the obvious. BLackeberg.

You forget Tommy. He might've left.

Oh, don't worry, I obviously think Jocke was a walking bloodbank, too, but I still think he was a poor fellow lol.

Not without serious mental/psychological damage. Again the idea of whatever was wrong about Blackeberg leaving a taint on everyone.
Re: I Love Jocke
Yes, but still less damaged than Jocke. The taint isn't quite the same on everyone.
Bli mig lite.
Re: I Love Jocke
Jocke, Virginia and Lacke. They are all nice people. Down on their luck, yes. But they do not deserve what they got. In my opinion, even the bullies Conny and Martin did not deserved to die. Jimmy, OK, but the Conny didn't want to go that far.
This has always bothered me. Despite the misery Eli brings, I still love her/him. Is this a character flaw in me, I wonder...
