How did you discover LTROI?

Re: How did you discover LTROI?
I saw it on Netflix in the new release section. The synopsis reminded me of a kid's vampire movie back in the 80s/90s. Something like "My Vampire buddy" which is totally wrong synopsis. It set in my queue for months, but I didn't really watch it. I got bored one day, and I saw it. At first, I wasn't quite sure what I watched. I watched it second time and than third, and I fell in love with the story. I did the usual after that. I ordered the BluRay DVD even though I had it on Netflix. I order the book and read it few times. I saw "Let me in" as soon as it came out. I read all the fan fictions in this site, and other fan fiction sites. Finally, my infection has eased up a bit. Back to work and life, but I still love this story.

I also seen reviews - stating this was not your ORDINARY vampire story. That got me interested to reading more and more reviews - all good. Went over to YouTube and found some clips - that's when I swallowed the hook.
For some reason, I still can't spit that hook out!

Just scrolling through my cable services listings. It caught my eye since only two slots away on the listing was 'Let Me In'. At the time I was unaware either film existed and didn't understand how the two films with different but almost the same title with completely different casts could have the very same plot. So I watched and now here I am.

(Waves hand over your face) You don't want to spit out the hook, you want to remain hooked.
Run, and you might live.
Stay, and you might die.
However, nothing is certain.
Come visit my blog where i write stuff of Vampires, including Let the right one in, http://godlessvampire.blogspot.com/

Re: How did you discover LTROI?
Last year i looked at what was on Sky movies and one that was due to start caught my eye as it starred Chloe Moretz from one of my all time fav flicks Kickass-it was called 'Let me in'.Because i enjoyed Kickass so much i watched LMI and thought it was excellent so i went online and ordered the DVD.
When the DVD turned up few days later i read on the sleeve its a remake from a Swedish movie called 'Let the right one in' then thought no more about it.A while later i noticed LTROI was on late at night on C4 so i recorded it.
I watched it few days later and thought it was fantastic.Found out it was based from a book of same title so went online and ordered both the DVD and book at same time.
Long winded, but i got there in the end.

Re: How did you discover LTROI?
Thanks, djrees56, for nice topic. I've read all the replies, it was interesting.
In my case, Stephen King has played a role. I've read his phrase, something like "LMI - one of the best horror movies of the decade". So, I've watched LMI (I didn't know about existance of such actress as Сhloё Morez before it
)
Well, I watched the film about 2011 New Year, I liked it and forgot it. Has, forgotten, but not quite. Enough, that when I discovered that LMI it's only a remake, I immediately found LTROI and watched it. I liked it very much and then I decided to watch it once more. And... I lost.

He is looking at me, silently, expectantly, in the near-dark room, neither smiling nor frowning; gaunt as a Belsen child, proud as the Devil, distant and beautiful as a star. [DMt.]
Re: How did you discover LTROI?
I read the synopsis for it at the Tribecca Film Festival in 2008 and almost bought a ticket, but decided that it was probably a Swedish version of the "The Little Vampire" and passed. I regretted it afterward when the raves starting coming in. I kept hearing more good things over the course of the year as the film made its way through the festival circuit, and I was finally able to see it for myself in November 2008. The initial viewing bugged me, so I saw it again...and was hooked.
Re: How did you discover LTROI?
I read some stuff about this film and saw a bad trailer. Here in Holland they acted like it was a kids film and it even won a kid award. So I didnt really have any intention of watching this. Not that much later I read a review in a newspaper and saw some photo's, thats when I decided it was time to download the film. Then when it came out on DVD I bought it right away.
Re: How did you discover LTROI?
I have a friend who is really into vampire movies. I heard this was the best vampire movie ever (according to some review or other.) We rented it. He thought it was OK. I was stunned. I bought the dvd. Watched it another dozen times. Bought the book. Read that a couple times. I've lost count of how many times I've seen it but I know it well enough to watch it without the subtitles.
Re: How did you discover LTROI?
Hi all, been a lurker for a while and decided to register! Anyway, I was perusing through some top horror film lists about a month or two ago (not that I'm actually a big fan of horror but just wanted to read up on horror films for some reason that night):
http://uk.movies.ign.com/articles/662/662450p2.html
This definitely caught my eye - simply because the rest of the films on the list tended to be slasher/zombie/gorefest/really scary whereas this sounded...different. A few minutes later, just searched for it on youtube - found the pool scene, and then realised the rest of the film was on youtube in 12 segments...watched one bit, then another and then another...mesmerised by the beautiful story. I was incredibly intrigued by the open ending (I was probably influenced by the original article I read above) and found out about the "Let the Old dreams die" spoilers (what can I say, I wanted to know the canonical ending!) on this site at around 2:30 am that same day...
Suffice to say I ended watching it again the next day and was so impressed that I bought the Blu-ray on Amazon - my first blu-ray too! - (well, it was only a few more £s than the DVD and such a good film felt it deserved a little bit extra...)...such a treat to see on the TV, crystal sharp picture and sound...particularly after watching it on youtube! I've not watched it for a few weeks now as real life got in the way but have been perusing through the forums regularly and recently started reading through the fanfics at the moment - I particularly liked Wolfchild's "Letters" and his interpretation of Eli's inner dialogue. Anyway, the main theme is usually my music of choice these days when clicking away at a spreadsheet at work (Eli's theme is very good, as in Oskar in Love, Eli and Oskar, Then we were together, um...they're all good!) as it helps focus the mind. Well, that's my story - certainly nothing especial, but the film is special to me.
