Thats true... i think this scene is also done really nice in "let me in" where we see abbys face when owen hugs her. she looks really weak (maby from the loss of blood), but also really happy.a_contemplative_life wrote:He probably also felt like a big jerk, too.pristidae wrote:Wolfchild: Brilliant analysis of the hands and barriers symbolism -- I see the film in a richer, more meaningful light. It seems so systematic, it must be intentional?!?
Excellent observation -- I never thought that the the presence of blood on Eli representing his vampire aspect, which Oskar clearly accepts as he hugs and kisses her despite Eli being covered in it.lombano wrote: Oskar refuses to let her in when she is disguised as a cute little girl, but he hugs and lets in the blood-drenched, dishevelled Eli of a few seconds later. Oskar prefers the horrific truth to conforting lies, which is ultimately what allows him to love and be loved by Eli.
We only see Oskar's face in that hug. I would've liked to have been shown Eli's face, as its recipient.
The sound of a kiss is not so loud as that of a cannon, but its echo lasts a great deal longer.

I agree. I also found the arcade scene, candy scene, and deleted turning scene to be powerfully done.Daniel Ether wrote:Thats true... i think this scene is also done really nice in "let me in" where we see abbys face when owen hugs her. she looks really weak (maby from the loss of blood), but also really happy.
Sorry, I don't mean to turn this thread into a full blown Let Me In discussion

but your absolutly right. this scenes are really moving and powerfull, especially the deleted scene where abby gives owen the vision of his/her castration
that brings me to the deleted scene of LTROI where oscar and and eli are fighting. i rewatched it under the aspect of the use of hands, and now i find it even more perfect. in my opinion its a pity that this scene isn't in the movie. the part where they are hissing at each other is so adorable

Ahh, I want to read through the article and this thread but I don't have anymore time to spare today.
Hope I remember tomorrow.
